Balneotherapy and the Benefits of Elektra Magnesium Cream

Magnesium is an essential mineral necessary for optimal health, and deficiency can result in numerous health conditions. Many people reach for magnesium supplements when they realise its inclusion in their diet is inadequate or magnesium deficiency symptoms appear. However, one side effect of magnesium supplements (in capsule, tablet, powder, liquid or granule form) is bowel irritation, and it can be a deterrent in continuing with a magnesium supplement. But, there is an alternative. Unlike magnesium supplements, it’s absorbed via the skin (without side effects), and it’s called Elektra Magnesium Cream.

But, there is an alternative. Unlike magnesium supplements, it’s absorbed via the skin (without side effects), and it’s called Elektra Magnesium Cream.

Electra Magnesium Cream is one of several products in the Elektra Magnesium brand, developed by Elektra Life Pty Ltd, a family owned company located at Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. The company manufactures and supplies transdermal magnesium products (topical magnesium products for personal care) for the natural health and well-being market. These products originated from the experiences of Sandy, who along with Peter (her husband), are the founders of the company. In an attempt to manage the stress she was at the time experiencing Sandy took part in the practice called ‘Balneotherapy’.

What is Balneotherapy?

Balneotherapy is a practice relating to spa treatment and the immersing of oneself into rich mineral waters (high in magnesium) for a rejuvenating effect. However, balneotherapy refers to the medical use of these spas, as opposed to recreational use. The dermatological effects resulting from the absorption of minerals from these mineral waters has been extensively studied by scientists and found to be an effective method of mineral absorption. Balneotherapy has been recommended for a wide range of illnesses, including arthritis, skin conditions and fibromyalgia. Mud baths are also included in balneotherapy and the dirt and water used is known to contain beneficial mineral properties.

Benefits of Elektra Magnesium Cream

Elektra Magnesium Cream allows the body to absorb magnesium via the skin; similar to the body absorbing vitamin D3 from the epidermis as required (after making it from direct sunlight exposure). After application (once or twice a day) at particular points, all over the body, or in massage, the body will absorb as much magnesium as it needs and then cease the process.

When used in massage Magnesium Cream helps to stimulate blood flow, oxygenation and circulation, relax and relieve tight muscles and joints. It is also effective in relieving itchy, inflamed skin; soothing and re-hydrating from excessive sun exposure; and as a beautifying skin conditioner. It is made from a blend of plant oils such as shea butter, macadamia nut oil, almond seed oil and apricot kernel oil. One all-over application (13 grams equals one dessertspoon) gives 300g of elemental magnesium.
