Most burns happen in the kitchen. Whether you grab a hot pan out of the oven or spill a pot of boiling water on yourself from the stove, you will want a remedy for a burn that will make you feel better quickly. There are things in your kitchen that you can use to quickly treat a burn.

Ice is the first thing that we think of when we burn ourselves and it feels the best. Apply ice for ten minutes on and ten minutes off. Leaving it on your burn for a long amount of time can cause some damage. Also wrapping the area up in a cold wet towel will also give you instant relief.

Aloe vera is another way to cure a burn. This gel has cooling properties in it that will make you feel better quickly. It is a good idea to keep a bottle of aloe vera in your spice cabinet or under your sink for emergencies. You can even keep an aloe vera plant in your kitchen and break off pieces of the leaves and place in your freezer. Having this in your freezer will be extremely convenient.

Honey is an ingredient that most likely have in your pantry. Since honey has natural healing properties in it, your burn will heal quickly by spreading a tablespoon of honey onto it. Cover it up with a bandage and the burn will heal quickly than it normally would. It also helps to prevent an infection.

You may have lavender oil in your cupboard for when your family gets sick. Lavender oil not only works to clear up someone who is sick, but it also helps a burn. If the skin is not broken where the burn occurred, apply three drops of the oil on the affected area.

There are a few vegetables that work wonders on burns. Cut the end of a large onion so its a circular shape and place it directly onto the skin. It will soothe the pain that is caused by the burn. This is also true with a raw potato.

Egg whites are natural collagens that help the pain of a burn. Simply crack open an egg, separate the yolk and apply the egg whites to your burn. This will prevent blistering on your skin. Not only do egg whites help treat burns, but they prevent burns as well. Many professional cooks apply egg whites on their arms and hands before they cook to avoid grease burns.

Years ago, people used milk to treat burns. Although there are a few other remedies that work more effectively, this still does work. Simply soak a clean cloth into a bowl of milk and hold it onto your burn for 10-15 minutes. The milk should soak into your skin and give you some relief. Whole milk works the best because its fat promotes healing of your skin.

There are many items in your kitchen that you can use to treat painful burns. Between all these various supplies, it is likely that you will have a few different ingredients to try. Treating the burn quickly is important to avoid scars.
